IH helped to create the universally accepted standards for teacher training in language education; we continue to innovate with our Teacher Training Malta project.
Initial Training Courses If you are looking into becoming qualified as a language teacher, you need to take a course leading to the appropriate qualification – one that is recognised internationally. Many IH schools offer these initial courses:
- CELTA
An intensive 4-week course leading to the Cambridge ESOL CELTA qualification.
- IH Certificate in Teaching Languages
An intensive 4-week course leading to the IH Certificate qualification (on which the CELTA was based). The IHC is also available for the teaching of other languages: Arabic, French, German, Italian, Spanish.
At the moment plans are being developed to provide these Teacher Training Malta facilities under the auspices of IH Malta-Gozo.
In the meantime, prospective teachers requiring more information should log onto the International House World Organisation Website www.ihworld.com and click on the “Teacher Training” section where you will be able to find advice and information concerning IH Schools that currently provide Teacher Training.
